How do you keep track of employee hours?
GeeZ replied to CAautogroup's topic in Accounting, Profitability, & Payroll
Get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Acroprint-Self-Contained-Automatic-Biometric-Fingerprint/dp/B00WT4ENI0 We use this in our shop. Works well. You need something though to prevent issues with your state's hour and wage dept and Dept of Labor. -

Yes, every shop has had this happen. My guess, they had more money but not for you. No good deed goes unpunished. -
Yes, we already have reports of scams.

We tried to use GE Credit 3 years ago, but the people who needed it didn't qualify. Of the half of dozen or so we tried only 1 actually qualified. -
My Carfax service shop & appointmentplus
GeeZ replied to CAZM's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I am a little leery about this also per SMMotors comments. I agree that it is not my decision to release info about my customers' cars. I have asked shops that do release info and none of them has received authorization to release information to carfax or anyone else from their customers. -
My Carfax service shop & appointmentplus
GeeZ replied to CAZM's topic in General Automotive Discussion
You're going live this Monday, it's a little late to ask for input. I personally think that unless they are paying for the access, I would send them on their way. I agree with Alfred. I don't believe going with Carfax is coming out of the stone age. It is going to middle ages as an indentured servant. -
As you shop around, be careful. Lots of crooks in this business. We tried Sam's Club vendor, First Data. It was a nightmare and we went back to Chase Paymentech. Average about 2% discount rate.

Right now, we are putting up a 14,000 sq. ft. building with 11,000 of shop area. After looking around and was seriously looking at polyurea at about $11 sq ft., I was refered to these folks in the Houston area and decided to use their process. They have done lots of floors around us. Best of all 85 cents per sq ft. Could be available elsewhere in the U.S. http://www.concretecleaninginc.com/ This should happen in about 3 weeks. -
Just letting you know. All it takes is for a group to discuss it for the FTC to launch an investigation. BTW, insurance companies are exempt from price fixing by law.
-
Guys, be careful about discussing this in too much depth on a forum like this. FTC is always looking for what they believe is collusion to fix prices.
-
Joe, I think phynny meant maroon. He wasn't trying to be insulting. Interesting subject though. When we give a price over the phone we always qualify our answer and try to get the customer to bring the vehicle in. Most of the time, the job is different than first presented over the phone because the potential customer forgets to inform us of the mods he or another shop already performed.
