  1. Probably not. Twice would be too much for me.
  2. I signed up once for ATI and then they allowed me to cancel due to a family emergency. Afterwards having heard about how expensive the program is I have never signed up since although they have bugged the life out of me. They don't take hints and they know I am not the highest paid car washer in Indiana.
  3. But some people just don't get that.
  4. I love the way you state that and it is so true.
  5. That is the fastest and easiest way to handle this. When I tell people that they often ask me to give them a my price and sometimes I will get the work anyway. If they are trying to get me to install their water pump or heater core for example, I try to educate them on why that is not a wise thing to do due to the minor savings and future labor warranty issues. Unfortunately, some people are so fixated on but I have "a lifetime warranty from Autozone" on the part they don't get the labor warranty issue.
  6. The best thing to do is to find an independent agent or broker who specializes in health insurance. Some will be specialist in group health and some will be individual. Here is what you need to keep in mind is that almost all independent agents have access to the same carriers so the price will probably be the same. The secret is to find someone who is knowledgeable enough to educate you and guide you to make the best decision possible dependent upon your circumstances. For this reason I would avoid doing on line insurance because I want that agent who can answer my questions or fight for me if I have an issue with the company paying a claim. There is no difference in cost but there is in service.
  7. Great news! You live to fight another day! God bless you!
  8. Go CATS!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Jeff, are you still ganging in there.
  10. We just don't do it period unless we are super slow and then I charge accordingly. The people who goes elsewhere because of this will have the bottom of the barrel working on their cars and their results will probably be unsatisfactory. Eventually they may return after they take their lumps.
  11. Jeff, I sent you some help and would encourage our other members to help out as they are able. Joe, if I am out of line hear please let me know.
  12. Last thing that happened today is a promising young tech who has been with me over a year is going up the street for higher pay. Problem is he is a smart kid and does good work but is really slow. Based on his productivity I cannot afford to raise him up to what the other shop will pay. Bad news for me!
  13. Do you care to share your pricing matrix?
  14. I think that there is no Gene now _2080 and that he does not own a shop and that this is a troll.
  15. Jeff what is your Paypal ID or what email address can we use?
  16. Jeff, do you have a PayPal Account if some of us want to help?
  17. Drugs and alcohol have been huge issues with the techs I have known.
  18. Ours is a Coats and about four years old. I don't remember the model but it is a step above entry level but more for a medium volume shop. It has been a great machine. Never a minutes trouble.
  19. What does RLO cost?
  20. We charge typically about $10-0.2 hours except for headlight calling for more than 0.4 hours. We then charge book time with maybe a $10 break.
  21. Craig, I am interested in hearing a little about your background related to your interest in the automotive business.
  22. They do not understand why the repair costs more than the car did.
  23. We got a negative review once for just listening to a guy's truck run and giving hm a quick free opinion. We didn't do any testing, didn't look at Identifix or Alldata, and did it for free. Then the young punk leaves us a negative review. Go figure.
  24. We do pretty much what you do. Bulbs other than headlights will run about $14 bucks. Air filters are parts only. However, watch out on some of the new stuff like headlights on Chevy Malibus and the newer Chevy trucks.
  25. Joe, I had a similar situation yesterday but not with a tech but a service writer. I think in my situation the customer was more of a problem than my employee but both were probably wrong. Probably a 60-40 spread but you still have to deal with both parties.
