  1. There is a 10 sec flood control delay with search for our free members. You can upgrade to a premium or above membership which has no flood control for search. 😁
  2. I just realized why most of you cannot see who specifically liked a post. That feature is now slated for premium and above memberships going forward. However, for the time being I've enabled it on our FREE membership package. 😁
  3. Sorry for the delay responding to this. That's a good call out about the likes and I will look into that. As far as notifications, you can control them in your account settings or directly via this link: https://www.autoshopowner.com/notifications/options/ When you click into your account settings, you'll see to the right "Other settings" and then the link to Notifications. Click on what you want for notifications on the site and emails. You can do both , one, or none.
  4. Topic moved to Auto Body Shop Discussions Forum
  5. CMillet, I split your reply and the other replies to your comment into this separate topic for you, to not take over the original topic. You can change the title if you like, I just used the content from the first post.
  6. I have split the off-topic replies in this topic into a new topic:
  7. For anyone following twitter and facebook, we are back online. For those that use Tapatalk, I've just updated the plugin for that as well. Our forum, which is our main section, is back up. We've got new layouts for various other sections as well. Please reach out in this post, PM, contact form, or email if you experience any issue with this website. Layout issue, functionality, etc. Thank you.
  8. Thank you so much for the comment, hopefully not too much of a change. We tried to keep it close to the old layout. Still have some things to work on, but core site functions are all back up.
  9. Updating AutoShopOwner 😁

  10. Just a quick update, almost done with some final testing and finalizing some of the sections on this site. We are planning to update ASO next weekend and the site will be down for a bit during that time. I will keep everyone posted via twitter as well.
  11. Hello Jim, thanks for joining and posting your question to the community. I moved your topic into the general automotive section as I believe it could garner some conversation. You had posted in the Auto Repair Shop Help forum, and that is a section where auto shop owners can inquire about specific topics they are looking to get assistance from our community with. The members here are primarily automotive shop owners networking and collaborating on their businesses. Thank you for your service to our country.
  12. There are so many websites powered by wordpress, including some of the ones posted by our members. Please make sure you or your webmaster patch or update your sites to the latest version. I often see outdated wordpress sites that are never updated in fear of breaking the styling and theme. It is critical to keep web 2.0 sites up to date. More info: Recent WordPress vulnerability used to deface 1.5 million pages Over One Million WordPress Sites Defaced It's easy to see if you are running a wordpress site (as long as the admin panel has not been moved) just append /wp-admin/ to your domain name. Example: yoursite.com/wp-admin/
  13. Yes, downloads are included in our premium membership which is $29.99 a year right now. You can upgrade from our free membership here: http://www.autoshopowner.com/store/category/1-membership-packages/

  15. In the coming weeks, we are going to be updating AutoShopOwner to a newer platform for 2017. We are working on making it as close as possible to what we have now before making the switch. Joe and I have discussed our need to stay up to date with the ever evolving internet. This includes making sure we are running on the latest software that runs this community. There will be a few important changes and I will update this topic as it happens. Everything will generally work the same with some new enhancements including mobile usability, posting features, and a newer user interface. For those using Tapatalk with this forum, we will make sure that is up to date and have plans to move to https:// to serve secure web pages. Please subscribe (Follow) to this topic if you would like to be notified about these changes. More to come
  16. Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Successful 2017!
  17. Merry Christmas! My girls are eagerly waiting for Santa to come tonight.
  18. Merry Christmas!
  19. Tapatalk has been updated to the latest version.
  20. Scott, good catch...thank you, I've edited my first post. Since the start of this topic back in 2007, we have changed the strategy here at ASO and only show the first post in a topic to guests. You must be logged in to view additional posts in a topic. You are correct that it will not help with backlinks.
  21. _2080, you need to keep it professional here.
  22. _2080, please keep it professional. Thank you.
  23. Very nice site and I see you are using a wordpress SEO plug-in which is excellent. You are using good page titles and the site is (as most wordpress themes today are) mobile ready. You have a good amount of images, I would consider caching your pages. This can be done with your server/hosting. Below are a couple of tools everyone can use to see how their site is and correct or share with their developer. Not everything is as important and the reality is that you are only competing with local sites that are in the same market when trying to get to the top of the list in searches, so fix what you see if its going to make a difference. I would type in keywords and phrases you think your customers would use to search for auto repair into Google, Bing, and Yahoo. http://seositecheckup.com/ - search engine optimization test https://search.google.com/search-console/mobile-friendly - Google mobile-friendly test, see if your website layout is mobile friendly The web is changing and primarily because of new/improved coding languages and screen sizes. It is important to keep web site scripting up to date to minimize issues, hacking, and layout issues with modern web browsers. So this means updating the programs/scripts that run your sites or making sure your web developers keep them updated to the latest versions. Google is giving more weight to mobile friendly pages because of phones and smaller screen sizes. When you look at your site, don't only look at it on your desktop or laptop, check your phones and tablets and see how it looks. Are you happy with it? Is it easy to navigate? Will your customers like it? Lastly, are you running any analytics on your site? Ask your developer to add in Google Analytics, its free. You can get great insight to how your website is found, what pages are frequented, and other useful info such as ranking, demographics, etc.
  24. Welcome to ASO!
