Full Service Oil Change Times

Recommended Posts

We do tablet inspections. Nearly all oil changes are sold with a courtesy rotation. I always schedule a full hour for the service. Could it be done quicker? Sure, but scheduling an hour gives a us a bit extra time in case some small extra service is performed.

Hey Mr. Kim,

I noticed you are questioning other shops on how long it takes technicians to complete a full service oil change with a standard under hood/car vehicle inspection? Along with asking if other shops are using tablets or paper repair orders.

I know Tanya spoke to you the other day and set up a personalized one on one training with our Product Specialist to help your shop work with these specific questions along with speeding up your process. Tanya mentioned that it would be in your shops best interest to have one of your lead techs attend the training too. I can't stress how important it is that all your techs take our training. I do see we have you set up for this Wednesday for your one on one if you need to reschedule so your tech can attend please don't hesitate to call Tanya at 610-400-1019 ext. 130.

Hope you have a great weekend!

We schedule 1 hour also. If its a 2015 with 17,000 miles, I know it's NOT gonna take a full hour, but it makes up for the 2006 model with 145K miles on it that is gonna need a rack, cv axles, v/c gaskets, etc.

OK that leads me to a question. When that car comes in and you find these issue, do you sell and complete the work during that service appointment or schedule a service appointment for those issues?

We schedule an Hour / Techs get 45 minute Credit We do a 31 point inspection electronic , includes Exterior needs , Interior needs , under car with Front end shake down , Under hood with battery test , Road Test.

Some Time savings is having Service advisor page tech Car is here not re parking , Pull Oils if Special , Pull Filters . S/a should be back at car within 20 minutes to see sheet , so can be selling while oil change is finished . Schedule we have courtesy cars so for the most , car can be left for other needs.

Thanks Dan.

We present to the customer everything that we find with an estimate. Obviously, what we find will dictate if we schedule a future appointment to complete the work or if it's something that can be done that day

Still using my own paper sheets. Just ordered more. Balancing the "personal touch" against Technology. I'm sure the scales are tipping...

Schedule 45 minutes, pay .75, charge .45, still only close about 65% of the callers on the phone looking for prices EVEN when we describe what all we check and do. Another auto repair that has been turned into a commodity and completely dumbed-down...
