Goodyear closing 92 Stores and will Cut 600 Jobs?
autoguy posted a topic in Dealing With Competition
Goodyear closing 92 Stores and will Cut 600 Jobs? Did anyone hear about this? They must be struggling. "Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. announced that they will be closing down 92 of their retail stores across the United States. They will be laying off 600 full and part time workers due to the slow economy. Goodyear has a total of 742 stores in the United States. The spokesperson for the company said that because of the economy, people are driving less and it has affected how often they are replacing tires and buying new cars. They are planning on closing stores that are under performing. The company has reported income increases in the second quarter to $75 million which the year before was $56 million. Their revenue also rose by 6.5 percent to $5.24 billion." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW7BJ4F3qjw -

Are Your Customers Unusually Cranky?
autoguy replied to Joe Marconi's topic in Customer Experience & Reviews
Customers are more aware of rising costs of fuel and I hear conversations about costs of everything else rising. This equates to less money on the needed maintenance. -

Service Advisors make or break your business
autoguy replied to Joe Marconi's topic in Customer Experience & Reviews
Great Point! Your people working for you are always the face of your business. Your business is only as good as the people that are involved in it. The first thing that happens in any business is the customer greeting. -
I think that you need to gear your consumers up for AC checkups and "After-Winter" Checkups. Maybe tie in some sort of AC Free check. Cabin filter replacement with vent cleaning. Maybe a "Get Ready for Warm Weather" Vehicle Check up. What always works is a spring oil change special...lost leader type of service.

You mentioned lowering...are you in a market that has tuner cars in it? Are you a speed shop? If so, how is that market?

Hi Steve! We go by a 12 month/12.000 mile warranty as a norm. How do you like the NAPA program, do you find that it is helpful? What do you get out of it?

Fuel Prices, Housing Crunch Affecting Auto Sales
autoguy replied to Alex's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think it's a general feel in the entire country right now tha the economy is doing poorly. Today the senate passed that economy stimulus plan... "Congress passed deal aiming to speed rebates to taxpayers" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23052292/
