Hello from Texas! Shop owner for 6 years

Hello to all. I am a shop owner but not the normal type of shop that you guys are running. I run a performance truck shop. Where we work on gas and diesel trucks. We install mostly performance enhancements to the vehicle. I have found in our type of business that we dont have many repeat customers, after we have gotten the truck to the performance level the customer is looking for. Now I'm not saying that they never come back, thats not true, we usually dont see them back until they want another upgrade or they purchase a new vehicle, but that in general is not getting it done anymore. In this latest economy, we are seeing lower sales than ever, since what we do is a luxury service not a necessity. So I am looking for ways to expand into other markets related to the industry, to grow my business bigger and more profitable. I stumbled upon this site doing research on the net. I hope that I can glean some tips from this forum to help me accomplish this.

As a former auto shop owner, one of the things that kept me up at night was not knowing enough about all the labor laws and human resource regulations.
How do you keep up with all the changes to the labor laws and human resource regulations in your state?

BEVs are running about 5.6% of new car sales in the second quarter of 2022 – that’s up from 2.7% in the second quarter of 2021. Challenges- recession, price of battery materials/broken supply chain, Inflation Reduction Act China controls 60-80% of the powders associated with battery anodes and cathodes and the lithium transfer medium 80-90% of all BEV vehicles do not qualify for the Inflation Reduction Act- – it only applies to BEV cars that are under $55,000, it only applies to people making less than a certain amount depending on their marital status Autonomous Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (AV NEV)- AV NEVs are package delivery pods and people shuttles traveling in dedicated lanes in urban centers at less than 30 mph. The Federal Government is allocating about $5B of our tax money to install another 500,000 chargers – but if we are going to get anywhere close to their desired sales of BEVs we are going to need over 2 million chargers to keep those cars running. Estimated 5% BEV share of new car sales this year growing to 20% in 2030 and 35% in 2035 – by 2050 we have BEVs at around 50% of 2050

The word OSHA makes many shop owners cringe.
I was lucky enough years back to have my insurance agent suggest I perform a voluntary OSHA inspection. A private company did it at the time.
They found tons of violations; some we knew would be flagged, but most we did not.
Have you ever had an OSHA inspection? And what can shop owners do to protect themselves?

According to studies from Northwestern, Birdeye, and other companies, people are most influenced by reviews with an average rating of 4.2 to 4.5 stars out of 5 — making this the ideal average star rating for purchase probability.
Having all 5-star Google reviews can work against you.  People may not trust a company with all 5-star reviews. No business is perfect, and you cannot please everyone. Also, people make mistakes.
Having negative reviews is not the end of the world, in fact, it may actually help your business.
