Positve Starter Cable Short to Ground

Recommended Posts

We have recently seen two Toyota Camry’s (2004, 2005) 4cyl where the positive cable at the starter is touching the metal harness bracket located just underneath the air filter box. The cable is rotated upward and comes in contact with the metal bracket and shorts to ground out at times. The repair is simple, loosen the starter cable and reposition away from the metal bracket. We suspect this may have happened after the starter was replaced.

Thanks for the tip. We haven't seen this as yet. This is something I read that may be of interest. Have you ever had a VW/Audi with an Electronic Parking Brake? I haven't saw one of these yet.

Rear Caliper Damage...

Yes, I know about the Audi electic parking brake. We have a scan tool that retracts it. I am not at work today so I can't give you the name of the tool. We will see more and more of this in the coming years. Master Plan: get the cars back to the dealer!

The word OSHA makes many shop owners cringe.
I was lucky enough years back to have my insurance agent suggest I perform a voluntary OSHA inspection. A private company did it at the time.
They found tons of violations; some we knew would be flagged, but most we did not.
Have you ever had an OSHA inspection? And what can shop owners do to protect themselves?

This past summer set record heat in many parts of the country. As a former tech, I know what it's like to work 8 to 10 ten hours in 90-plus degree temperatures with unbearable humidity.
Does air conditioning help with morale and productivity? Is the investment worth the benefits?
