  1. Having a tough time dealing with the current economy! One Day at a Time is my (everyones) new rule to live by.

  2. What is the general rule out there when it comes to alignments and dealing with shims. I notice that it DOES take more time than the standard alignment rate I charge. My mechanic and I kind of butt heads regarding extra charges. I understand that some vehicles require less time with shims than others. So, what say you out there. Give me some feedback. Thanks P.S. When am I not a "newbie" any longer??
  3. Asking how the wiper blades are doing or have the tires been rotated lately (and a quick mention that we'll check the brakes at the same time) sparks interest. I notice that most customers appreciate the "reminder" that there was something they forgot to tell me.
  4. I would like to say that I really look forward and enjoy checking out the new forum topics. They typically are uplifting and enlightening. Thanks for everyone's input, on any subject. By the way, what is "set my status"? Duh.

  5. Unfortunately, the town we're in is flooded with repair shops, at least 9 shops for a town of 6000. Plus this is a bedroom community, with no loyalty. I do take time for advertising, and a good bookkeeper helps too. I have become an amazing juggler, you should see my hat collection. Thanks for the reply.
  6. I realize this post was from several months ago, but...... We own a shop, have two techs. Neither are capable to run the front counter or do estimates. Here's the question, with business being down, how would my business make more money if I am paying someone to run the desk instead of me?
  7. Hi, We've owned our shop for 13 years, have had the same main mechanic for about 20 years. Two techs total. Feeling like were drowning and falling behind with all the new cars coming out. Looking for any suggestions with inexpensive or free training for newer cars.
