  1. I agree. Our target market is very small. Give back to the community who has supported you throughout the years.
  2. I want to thank Autoshopowner for finally creating a web site that shop owners can go to share ideas and opinions with their fellow shop owners. We trained hard to become great techs, but now we need to become more business-like. Welcome, all new comers and let’s get started and network!
  3. The Internet is our vehicle to the future. Within these forums are the keys to our success. My wish is that Auoshopowner.com explodes and becomes a valuable source like I.A.T.N.
  4. Productivity = $$$$. It's that simple. And, we need to charge 1.5 to 2 times our labor rate for diagnostic work. If you are not willing to charge that, I suggest you look for another line of work!
  5. I totally agree. Your people have great ideas. Get them invloved! It will make a difference. No man is an Island. You will get more done working as a team.
  6. The Bartec TPMS tool is the best I have seen so far. My Techs love it and its user friendly.
  7. Talk to your accountant, he will work out the pros and con.
  8. Do customers get confused if you fly the banner of a program group along with your own logo???
  9. We all need to separate work from play. Our business defines who we are as a career choice, but what we do during our down time away from business defines our humanity.
  10. Don't let techs answer the phone, if at all possible. You are right; the wrong person answering the phone can kill you. You are judged more by how you portray your shop to your customers, then by the work you do.
  11. For me it's about $$$. It's what's in my pocket at the end of the day. I can't pay my bills with percentages.
  12. Our business is different. There are too many variables. Plus, techs are subjected to too many ups and downs. First job of the day you doing a 30k, next a brake job, then a check engine light and after lunch your mounting 4 tires. How in the world can there be systems that smooth out and standardize this routine?
