  1. I'd like to say I don't piss people off, but I do. I'm set up in my shop to do electrical repair...not engine work, such as major oil leaks...etc... I don't pull engines, headgaskets..etc.. but apparently I ticked this guy because "some guy" told him I did after I told him I don't. geez...

  3. A small business owner was dismayed when a brand new corporate chain much like his own opened up next door and erected a huge sign which read BEST BLACK FRIDAY DEALS. He was horrified when another competitor opened up on his right, and announced its arrival with an even larger sign, reading LOWEST BLACK FRIDAY PRICES. The small business owner panicked, until he got an idea. He put the biggest sign of all over his own shop-it read... MAIN ENTRANCE.

  4. Very slow this month, so far only around 60% of what we did for October. UGH anyone else slow?

  5. To all of our veterans, past, present, and future.... Hand salute from an old Marine. Semper FI

  6. Well the SEMA/AAPEX show is over for another year. I didn't make it over to the SEMA show because of all the work I had to do. For me it was a non-stop jog through the entire place trying to get to the next interview I needed to do. If you were there and I didn't get a chance to say Hi, sorry about that. I thought I'd have some down time but it turned out I didn't have much time to myself at all. Still in all...it was a great event. I'll do it again next year.

  7. I'm concerned we need to open on Saturday's to stay competitive. We have always been a 5 day per week shop.

Due your homework. Man hours, OT, increase in expenses. Not saying no, but is your production maximized Mon thru Friday?

  8. Monday morning, decided to put a few hours in at the shop because my flight to AAPEX/SEMA convention doesn't leave here until 545. Trying to get a new pwr strng pump in the wifes Lexus... 3 bad pumps in a row...so far, great start for a Monday don't ya think? LOL

  9. Today was our 6th annual Customer Appreciation Day - We had a few hundred people stop by for burgers and hot dogs, and fun.

  11. I hope I am not speaking too soon but we are starting to pick up in business thanks gawd!

  12. The end of this week and most of next week I'll be out of town. Taking the boy to his first year of college in Denver, Colorado. It's a 11 hour drive from our house, and the van is loaded to the max. I wish him well in his new adventures and I'm also looking forward to "empty nesting". Empty nesting has its good and bad points. I know mom and I will miss him dearly, but I'm proud to say he's going to start college.

  13. What an atrocious week for sales we had last week. I am hoping this week will be sunnier skies.

Same here. We had a great spring and most of the summer was great. It's a roller coaster, that's for sure!

You are in hit for the long term, so judge your business over time. All will be ok.

The dog days of summer, getting ready for back to school and last chance for a vacation. Very common.

  20. It's been a good summer for A/C work.

  21. June was our best June ever but the first day of July was a stinker.

  22. I'll be at the NACE/CARS convention in Michigan on the 24 and 25 of July. If you're in the area stop by the AVI booth, I'll be there promoting some new adventures with "Gonzo's Toolbox" some video presentations, monthly articles on line video, new tool demos, and much more. See ya there!

  23. Thanks for all the kind words and prayers. And, yes as things to do... all shall pass...even a large kidney stone. For those who are wondering and want the TMI side of the story. The stone is too big to slide through a standard drinking straw without being forced through. Yea...tell me about it. It friggin hurt like you wouldn't believe. Well, it's back to recovery, video work, writing, general shop duties, and everything else. In two weeks I visit "the" doctor

  24. Been a rough week. Wed. while driving in to work, I noticed a twinge in my back, that led to the ER. Kidney stone. OMG. had one before, and this one was worse. Sorry to say, no story this week, heck.. no work either. Hardly any sleep, and lots of pain pills. If you never had a kidney stone before.... it's gotta to be the worst pain a man can go through.

  25. I'm almost ready to sign a contract AVI (Automotive Video Inc.) I'll be doing videos, teaching, and appearing at numerous conventions across the country. And, still.... running a shop. Maybe not as big as it used to be, but still a shop owner.
