  1. great show tom, but you need more callers

  2. Last time I had one of those strange noises it turned out to be either a loose or partially broken tail pipe banging only on speed bumps and another one which sounded like it was in the engine was a heat sheild on a cat. converter. They can make the strangest noise, depending on engine idle speed.
  3. Gonzo, I remember that story before you wrote it. We discussed it and thought it was a something with the router. Amazing how you can come up with a story, by just relating it to the automotive business! Shows you just how other fields of repair are so related!
  4. Pretty good and timely with the economy. I Have one I usually post on my mailing list which is a spinoff on the "Twas the night before Christmas". It gets posted the night before Christmas! Anyone can read it at http://carfixonline.blogspot.com/ Nice gonzo!
  5. Maybe one should take the tools that are no longer needed to an automotive museum, if there is one to be found somewhere. Better then having to throw them out someday!
  6. Nobody's perfect, but to the auto technician that sees his or her mistakes and does make good on them, is as close to perfect that you can get. That's the guy I want working on my vehicles!
  7. Computers can do many tasks Perhaps the next task is to design a computer that is capable of fixing and diagnosing itself. That would be the ultimate in computers! Don't think will ever see it in that form, but something better then what we have today!
  8. I heard it is used for just about everything except what it was intended for, that is sealing heating/cooling ducts. It does not hold up well there and they use a metal type that will hold up much longer.
  9. In 2168 they wouldn't be calling them cars anymore. Perhaps a version of the "star trek" transporter will be the means of transportation. I wonder what it will be called ?
  10. When I was much younger and impatient I would go to a mechanical shop and when they said they could not get it today which was when I needed to get it done for various reasons, I would end up buying the part and doing it myself. They were simple jobs like changing out a reverse backup light switch on a manual transmission or a thermostat. I really wanted to pay to have someone do it, but the hassle of having to go back another day was not worth it to me and I had the ability to do it myself That's the important thing. Knowing your limitations!
