  1. Based on my actual City I'm on the upper end, the local chrysler dealership is only $85/hr and they just recently went from $80 to $85. The highest independent I'm aware of is the next city over at $77 or $78.
  2. I've already learned so much from being on here the last week. I'm trying to implement a few things into my shop asap. The biggest thing I've focused on is cleaning the reception area first, and then moving to the shop area. Slow going with me being the only person doing it all.
  3. My reception area is very small, roughyl 214 sq ft. So making the most of what I have is my biggest goal.
  4. That looks awesome. I can only aspire to have something like that.
  5. In my quest to get my shop up to snuff I need to redo my office/reception area. Currently it's dirtier then I'd like but the big thing is the desk isn't very friendly. When customers come in, if I'm at the desk they can barely see me. I'd like to redo it so that it's more friendly and inviting. Where did you get your service writer desk? What about chairs? Also I know some shops have a TV on the wall, do you have local stations on it, or do you have a pre programmed thing? I don't have any real waiting customers at the moment but when I get to marketing more, I hope to have at least some.
  6. $70/Hr. Parts markup is on a matrix, anywhere from 40-60% on most parts. My biggest problem is 90% of our work is headgaksets, engine rebuilds, replacements etc.
  7. Thats odd that it's a failure, it says it's DOT approved. Meets all standards for brake lines. • NiCopp® Does Not Rust or Corrode • DOT Approved for Hydraulic Brake Systems • Bends 58% Easier than Steel Tubing • Available in Coils of 25', 50', and 100' • Finished Lines Available for Domestic & Import • Black Oxide Fittings 2X Corrosion Resistance NiCopp® lines and tubing meet the following specifications: SAEJ1047 ISO 4038 SAEJ1650 DIN 74234 BS2871
  8. It's just me, I've been doing it solo since I took over in late 2009. Best year ever just tickled upper 5 figures. I took over my grandfathers shop, no building cost, just utilites, and whatever tools and equipment.
  9. Believe me I understand what your saying, just hard to take a jump like that for a shop that has been grossing less then 6 figures for the last 5-6 years.
  10. The Brake line that Autozone and Advance sells isn't a pure copper, it's a Nickel copper mix. I believe some of the european manufactures use it standard.
  11. Hello, I have a small 2 bay shop with lifts in both bays, I also have a 3rd bay that has a chassis dyno. I try to do performance work, but working on the marketing aspect of that. I've always done heavyline engine and transmission work, alot of it for other shops. I've found a lot of value on here. I was talking to Elite Worldwide about consulting to help me with the general repair side of things. I'm still in sticker shock from the Conversation, but they did lead me here.
