Hi Bockauto. I just ordered a dry erase board because I too find the Mitchell scheduler kind of clunky. Not sure how to set it up and I was hoping you wouldn't mind sharing how you use yours? How do you block off time? Help!

I use Mitchell and the scheduler in the system to me is very complicated. So still using white board. It is something I need to spend time on. Does anyone else feel the same about the Mitchell scheduler?

I am thinking about going to a dry erase board for our scheduler, but am not sure how to make it work. Would love to see pics of others using this. Thank you in advance

Auto zone pays 100% labor claims if you do at least 1000 WK with them

I was wondering if anyone is having their techs use tablets to scan the vin to obtain vehicle info? (And for repair info) If so, how do you send the Vin info and pix to the front without having to write it down? Through email??

I re-enter the customer info and invoice because nothing imports over correctly and alldata is NO HELP when it comes to QuickBooks. I feel very comfortable with my QB data, I do all my own taxes and payroll and cannot take a chance of it importing wrong. If only there was someone who specializes in helping me set up, I would feel better. Ugh!!

I would also like to hear about how people get referrals.

Feels like double work having to put customers in all data when they are already in QB.

I am starting to wonder if its even worth it. My QuickBooks does everything for me except searching parts stores using the catalogue feature. I still have to edit every invoice so I might as well not even use it. Ugh! I'm so frustrated with it.

Hi tirengolf! Thank you so much for your input. I would really appreciate seeing your form. I think it would help a lot. Might look into bolt on if it will integrate with all data. My email address is [email protected]. thanks again!!

Hydro, I feel your pain, I am in Florida as well . I am about to go to Bolt On technology for this reason " I have no affiliation with Bolt On". I do a lot of tires, the inspection sheet makes my guys check all lug nuts. I resisted oil changes until 15 years ago, now they are a killer profit for me. I am at 49.00 Regular, 59.00 Dexos, 99.00 Synthetic, 119.00 Mobil One. I am actually installing a oil change only rack now. I, my father now me, have been here for dang nearly 60 years , I know who will buy and who want. I send those Walmart shoppers down the road. I actually have a shorter handwritten form if you would like a copy. I would be glad to share it. David

Hi everyone. We do a through inspection on most vehicles that come in the shop. I'm thinking about changing to a shorter "safety inspection form" because the tec's take almost an hour to fully inspect the veh and I have to pay them the hour to do it. Just seems more time consuming than its worth. (We are in FL and do not have state ibspections) What are everyone's thoughts on this process? BTW we use all data and they don't have digital inspection capability yet so we fill it out by hand. I thought about hiring a shop helper to do inspections, oil changes, clean up shop, run errands. What are your thoughts? Thanks so much in advance. Looking forward to opinions 😊

Hi ncautoshop! We just started using alldata online. I've been using QuickBooks desktop for about 5 yrs now and am terrified about exporting to QB. How has the A/P function been? Did you stop using the export GL all together? Any tips you may have would be super appreciated

Anyone know or recommend a company that offers a 3-5 day workshop to train a service writer/manager to learn how to SELL and manage tech workflow? Not looking for a consulting firm wanting thousands of dollars. We have an awesome personable approachable person who was one of our techs and wants to move up front but needs help. Thanks so much for your input

Hummm they offered us 2 yrs consulting, the conventions and classes. The website is extra and so is the onsite inspection for $40,000. Just too much money for us

Oops sorry about that.

True good point. Didn't think about that. Thanks for your feedback

Hi everyone. I have a marketing idea I want to run past you all. I'm thinking about a Referral and Review program. How it will work is when someone refers a friend or someone leaves a review about their experience at our shop, they will be entered into a drawing which will be done live and saved on our Facebook page. Drawing will be for something like $250 cash for 2 different customers. Drawing held early December for extra Christmas money. What do you all think?

We had All Data and I hated it also. I now use Mitchell and love it. Much better.
