  2. We do oil changes, we also do not stock tires, but we can get them from a warehouse for the next day. People do like the one-stop-shop. What we have stopped doing, is oil, filter change coupons, no more discounts for that. We had too many customers that we only saw for the coupon. Well, those people still come here for their oil changes. There's always the "Jiffy Lube" too. We do the 10% discount for, seniors, Moose Members, elk members and military (we're close to a base).
  3. Years ago the old man I bought my first tire shop from had this trick. He put on a generic ball cap and skulked around other repair shops, asked questions, observed. He usually went to a shop near a mall and told the guys he was waiting for his wife to finish shopping. He learned a lot and schooled his crew on anything new he learned.
  4. I am fed up with Quickbooks Pro. We are a small two man shop, I do the accounting. We wanted to hire a teenager for a few hours a week for clean up and Quickbooks wanted a huge amount to add one more employee with enhanced payroll! Besides, we are sick of the renewals each year going up so much. I can either buy two separate programs (we want discs) one for shop management and one for payroll, I like to electronically file my tax reports and pay tax payments through the software online. Maybe someone here uses software that does it all, does not cost over $300-350 to purchase. Upgrades would be optional, I would like to implement a new system for January 2014. Help! <grin>
